Recently, Blue Vector Intelligent Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. (“Blue Vector”) and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (“CATL”) formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement and a product cooperation agreement, establishing comprehensive cooperation.
With Wu Qiong, Founder and CEO of Blue Vector, and Zeng Yuqun, Chairman and CEO of CATL, witnessing the signing, Zhang Xu, Co-founder and COO of Blue Vector, and Hu Wenbin, Executive President of CATL’s Aviation Business, signed the agreements on behalf of their respective companies.
CATL will custom-develop aviation power battery products for the Blue Vector SKYLA V30. Drawing on their respective technical accumulation and industrial strengths in aircraft development and power batteries, the two parties will explore new opportunities for technological innovation and industrial application in electric aviation.
Complementary Strengths to Build a World-Class Electric Aircraft
For an eVTOL, the power battery system directly affects the aircraft’s weight, range, flight performance, and operational safety. Compared with ground vehicles, electric aviation places higher demands on the safety, reliability, and lightweight design of the power system, and the related technologies must also be continuously tested through system integration, engineering validation, and airworthiness certification.
CATL has deep expertise in battery technology R&D, system safety design, manufacturing processes, and quality management. Blue Vector focuses on eVTOL development, production, sales, and operational services. Its SKYLA V30 is an all-electric tiltrotor eVTOL aircraft, for which it continues to advance the development and engineering validation of key technologies, including aircraft design, powertrain integration, flight control, and software-defined aircraft architecture.
The two parties each bring professional strengths to different links of the industry chain, from power batteries to complete-aircraft development. This cooperation will further bridge battery technology with the needs of electric aviation applications, supporting the development of the SKYLA V30 and electric aviation technology.
Deepening Collaboration for a Broad Low-Altitude Economy Future
Beyond the SKYLA V30 program, the two parties will also cooperate on technological innovation, joint research, standards development, market expansion, and scenario operations, advancing technological innovation in electric aviation power systems and exploring broader markets and application space.
The development of the electric aviation industry depends on coordinated progress in complete-aircraft technology, power systems, core components, and engineering validation capabilities. Going forward, Blue Vector will continue to deepen its cooperation with CATL, effectively linking the two parties’ technical capabilities and industrial resources, and jointly steer the electric aviation industry toward a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable future.
